Remember Felix The Cat

Published by ken77 under Everyday Living, News Edit This

Growing up there was so many different cartoons that I loved watching that you just do not see anymore and that also goes for television shows as well. I am going to highlight a few in my next few posts and see if you guys remember some of these as well. Today I am going to talk about Felix The Cat who started back in 1928 which was his first appearance. He has appeared in over 250 newspapers and had a slew of products with his likeness on them as well. The amazing thing is today Felix the Cat seems just as popular with new products and projects coming out all the time. A great website to check out is www.felixthecat.com as they have many great products and the story about Felix. Below is the intro for the cartoon. I hope you enjoy it.

Classic Television: The Andy Griffith Show

Published by ken77 under Everyday Living Edit This

One of the most popular television shows when it ran was The Andy Griffith Show and it seems just as popular today as well. The show was about Sheriff Andy Taylor played by Andy Griffith and his bumbling Deputy Barney Fife played by Don Knotts.  Andy Taylor’s son was named Opie and was played by Ron Howard and the show took place in a small town called Mayberry.

The Andy Griffith Show had a cast of characters and through the year they constantly added new characters. You will see people like Barbara Eden, Bill Bixby and others make cameo appearances. It is a very good series that still is as good as it was many years ago. You will find yourself going back in time and enjoying The Andy Griffith Show. Below is a small video clip of the Andy Griffith Show I hope you enjoy it.

U.S. Troops To Exit Iraq In 2010

Published by ken77 under News Edit This

According to the Obama administration U.S. Troops will be leaving Iraq in August 2010 three months later than he had originally planned, but probably for the best. The Iraq War has divided the country and our allies on many different fronts so getting them home as soon as possible is a good idea.

Many people feel the war was not something we needed while others feel it was justified. No matter which side of the fence you stand on it is good that they are coming home and I hope everyone shows a lot of support for them when they arrive.  Sometimes people do not understand what troops go through on a daily basis in a war and how tough it is on their families. I for one have supported them from day one and will continue to do so. Hopefully they will get a heroes welcome when they get home, but for some strange reason I do not see that happening.

Lincoln Penny Gets New Back Designs

The Lincoln Penny which in recent years have come under fire and many people have wanted to see it removed will be getting four new designs on the backside of the penny. The front of the penny will stay the same which I wished they would have redesigned that as well. Below is the four designs that they will be introducing. This should help prop up the penny and give it some new life and maybe people will look at it a little different than they have in recent years.

I like all the designs they are good except we still have the same front. that was also my beef with the state quarters as well. I guess it is better than leaving it the same. The U.S. Mint in my opinion wait to long to change designs and more frequent designs would keep interest in the coins longer, but the cost is the main factor change is not done along with coins usually last a long time compared to paper money.

Lone Ranger Still Brings Thrills

Published by ken77 under Everyday Living, Kids Edit This

Around a year ago my mother died and she had a vast collection of older western television shows that she loved. As she would collect these different series we would always make fun of her watching these kind of shows, but since her passing I have learned what she seen in these shows. Today I am going to talk a little about the Lone Ranger Television Show.

Clayton Moore played the Lone Ranger for most of the show, but one stretch he did have a salary dispute and they had another guy step in for 20 some episodes. For the most part Moore did play the Lone Ranger. The premise of the show was Moore was a guy who wore a mask to protect his identity and helped people who needed it. He had a faithful sidekick name Tonto who was always there to help him.

After watching several box sets of this show I have really grown to like what the show represented and how it was presented. No, it did not have the greatest acting in the world or the best storylines, but I have found it to be well worth watching. Clayton Moore did a great job as the Lone Ranger and if you want to watch some Classic TV  I recommend this series to anyone. Below is the theme song from the show which I love.
