Circuit City Done For Good

Just another casualty of the recession were in Circuit City was hoping to be able to stay afloat in bankruptcy, but it could not be done. They also looked for new buyers, but that was just not possible either. The No. 2 retailer of electronic products has been struggling the last few years and it seems with the recession their problems became too much and closing the doors was all they could do. The sad part is all the jobs that will be lost by this closing. I feel bad for the people and the communities the stores are located as they also lose.

To be honest I never shopped at circuit City much and for really one simple reason Best Buy had a better selection and usually a much better price. Best Buy and Wal-Mart really hurt Circuit City and it seems they just could never compete with these two giants. In the end I guess one had to fall and we all know it was not going to be Wal-Mart or Best Buy.

American Idol Is Back With Some Changes

Published by ken77 under Uncategorized Edit This

American Idol is back and some of the changes that they will be implementing I am not real happy with. I will not mention them all just a couple. One of the first things that you will notice is a new female judge named Kara DioGuardi. I think this should help Paula out as she will not be ganged up on like she usually was by Randy and Simon at times. Probably the one thing I hate most about the changes this year is we will see very few bad performances on television. Personally I have always liked seeing even the bad ones sing. It is comical and it gives those people a chance to have some fun. You never know what could happen from a bad audition. Take the video below of William Hung who became a big hit with his bad performance. I guess we will just have to wait and see how things work out on American Idol this year before I can pass total judgement.

Will We Ever Get out Of This Mess Were In?

Published by ken77 under Uncategorized Edit This

Sitting at the local coffee house many different subjects seem to come up and lately the recession and Obama has been the main topic of conversation. Everyone has their own opinion on what is right and what is wrong. As I sat and listen to everyone’s different point of views it occurred to me they all had one thing in common and that was they wanted some fast results from Barack Obama. Now that is all well and good, but to be honest I really see no fast answers to the complex problems that we face.

With the housing market slumping and layoffs at an all-time high the problems continue to mount for the next President of the United States. I am sure the people at the coffee house are like many others they want instant success from Obama and it is not going to work that way. After leaving the coffee house I thought to myself will they give the next President a fair chance or will they just continue to complain like they have for the last four years. I guess that is basically what coffee chat is letting your opinion heard even if no one else really cares.

IRS And It’s Crazy Way To Do Things

 onecent.jpg

This is a story for the ages, but I am sure many of us have had our fair share of dealing with the IRS some good many more bad. A Detroit Lawyer got a letter from the IRS awhile back stating that he owed then five cents. Are you kidding me? Five Cents? Yep, that is what they wanted. A little later on he received another letter from the IRS telling him that they owed him four cents. Now the lawyer was perplexed at what to do. So he decided to call the 1-800 system that the IRS have a big mistake. If you have ever tried to use these systems you know exactly what I am talking about.

It seems to take forever with that system as they send you from department to department. In the end the lawyer from Detroit really has no clue what to do. My suggestion send them the nickel or the interest will kill you over time. believe me they will keep adding the interest as it never goes away.

John Travolta’s Loss Can Be Felt Everywhere

Published by ken77 under Everyday Living, Kids, News Edit This

travolta-full.jpg Hearing about the John Travolta tragedy where he lost his son is heartbreaking. Any parent who has kids never want to go through this. I myself have had too and it is very painful and something that hurts forever. You never get over it and it is something you always second guess yourself on. There always are the what if’s that you ask yourself and no real answers ever do appear. It is something that happens in life and you must try and deal with it the best you can. My heart and prayers go out to the family in their time of sadness. It is great to see the outpouring of love that the World is showing and one day John you will get to see your son once again. Always hold that close to your heart and it will help you get through this very tough time. The pain will never go away, but through the years it will get easier not a lot though. Best of luck.

Housing To Rebound Or Not?

Published by ken77 under Financial, Kids, News Edit This

One of the many things I watch is the housing market as it is a good indication how and which direction we maybe headed. Many people I have talked to do not see much movement in the first half of the year. In fact they say that you could see a downward trend. Where I live in Ohio we are seeing that more people are losing their jobs and plants closing so that means more foreclosures will be on the increase. Many people tell me that no real end in sight until fall 2009. I hope that is not the case, but right now it is not looking good. In retail many friends have lost their jobs or their hours have been cut from 40-50 down to 8-12. How can anyone survive on that.

Unless some drastic happens in the housing market I cannot see it getting any better until late summer or fall. I hope I am wrong, but I guess we will see. Maybe Obama has a plan to get things moving in the right direction. I know many of us would love to see that happen. I guess only time will tell though if that will actually happen.

One Year In 40 Seconds?

Published by ken77 under Everyday Living, Kids, News Edit This

This is a video called One Year in 40 Seconds which shows a whole year in just 40 seconds. It has been making the rounds on the Internet and thought it was very good and in case no one has seen in yet.Sometimes as we go through our lives we never think about what is going on around us. This video captures a whole year and we can actually see what we maybe have missed. No matter what it is a neat thing to watch for your whole family and even the kids. I know my kids loved watching it and take a look and see what you think about it.

2009 Is Here Bring Renewed Hope Or Does It?

Published by ken77 under Everyday Living, News Edit This

Ever year when we get a New Year we all hope we will have World Peace do well in our home lives and see better things ahead. In today’s world that seems to be getting tougher as we have three wars going on and Israel and Hamas are battling each other once again. I guess World Peace is probably out of the question right now. Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are also being wage and It is hard to judge the success of either one.

2009 will bring in a new President Barack Obama who has promised change and he will probably find out it is much tougher to get things done than it was to make those promises. I wish him the best of luck and I hope things go well for him, but it will be tough. All in All 2009 should be a very interesting year and I guess it is probably best just to take it one day at a time that is always the safest.
