Credit Cards And What You Should Know
In today’s world of higher credit charge-offs there is several things that you should know about your credit cards and how to handle them so you can get the most out of them. Most people are confused about what they should and should not do. Hopefully this list will help you out.
First thing that everybody must know is if you can afford it make more than the minimum payment on your bill. It is true that is all you must pay, but many credit card companies hope you do that as it will take forever to pay it off. Pay more than the minimum if at all possible.
Second rule that you should know is you do not need 20 credit cards. In fact the more you have the worse off you will be in the end. Paying down these cards is just to hard. At the most keep just five that you use often. Pay the rest off and cancel them. This will save you a lot of money in the long run.
Third always monitor your credit score and your credit report. Make sure you know exactly what is on the report so if there is anything wrong with it you can get it changed and corrected.
Last and sure not least is read the terms and agreement credit card companies send you. They will many times send you updated terms and you need to read them as well. I know it can be a real hassle, but many times it wil save you many dollars in late fees if you do.
In closing if you do get behind on your credit card bills call the company and tell them your situation. Most credit card companies have programs to help you get back on track. Do not wait until it s too late and you ruin your credit rating. Get help early you will be glad you did.
